Recently, several reports suggested that the Chinese tech giant, Xiaomi would not launch the next Redmi Note device. However, in the latest development, the Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 is reportedly being tested internally. Moreover, the phone could get launched sometime in the second quarter of 2018. The device is expected to come equipped with Qualcomm’s upcoming Snapdragon 632 chipset.
Citing the sources, a report by MyDrivers has mentioned that the upcoming Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 smartphone is in the making. The Chinese smartphone maker is testing the upcoming handset internally and it’ll announce the Redmi Note 5 in Q2 2018. Furthermore, the report also suggested the pricing details of the alleged device.
According to the report, the upcoming Redmi Note 5 smartphone could come with a higher price tag than its predecessor. The phone is expected to come with a price tag of CNY 1,599 (roughly Rs 15,700) for the base variant. If this holds true, the prices of Redmi Note 5 top models could reach to Rs 20,000.
Xiaomi is believed to have delayed the release of Redmi Note 5 since Qualcomm hasn’t announced its latest Snapdragon 632 processor. It’s noteworthy that the Snapdragon 632 is a reduced version of the Snapdragon 636 chipset. Still, the Snapdragon 632 will retain the Qualcomm Spectra 160 ISP modem which is ideal for optimisation for dual camera setups.
Xiaomi Redmi Note 5: Rumoured specifications
The upcoming Xiaomi mobile is expected to feature a 5.99-inch Full HD+ (1080×2160 pixels) display with an aspect ratio of 18:9. The handset will run on Android 7.1 Nougat powered by Xiaomi’s own MIUI 9 skin. Like mentioned before, the phone will pack a Qualcomm Snapdragon 632 SoC. The company is likely to offer two variants of the device- 3GB RAM + 32GB internal storage; 4GB RAM + 64GB internal storage.
For photography, there will be a dual camera setup at the rear panel. The prior reports suggested that the handset will have a 5MP selfie snapper. As India has been a high-flying market for Xiaomi, the company is expected to bring the new Redmi Note 5 smartphone to the Indian market within weeks after the release in China.
