Vivo Mobiles recently introduced yet another smartphone variant in its V5 series in India. The new device is known as the Vivo V5s and is priced at Rs 18,990. The smartphone comes with selfie-centric features. The newly launched smartphone will compete against other handsets like Gionee A1 and Oppo F1s which are also available in the sub-Rs 20,000 segment. Here is the comparison of these three smartphones.
Display and Design
The Vivo V5s is identical to its predecessor in terms of design and display. It boasts a 5.5-inch HD (720×1280 pixels) display protected by a 2.5D curved glass on top. On the other hand, the Gionee A1 features a 5.5-inch full-HD (1080×1920 pixels) AMOLED display and the Oppo F1s features a 5.5-inch HD (720×1280 pixels) IPS display.
At the same price point, the Gionee A1 is providing a higher display resolution at the same size. All three smartphones offer metal unibody design and fingerprint sensors.
The Vivo V5s come equipped with a 64-bit MediaTek MT6750 octa-core processor coupled with 4GB of RAM, 64GB of internal storage and external storage up to 256GB via microSD card. It has a 3000mAh battery and runs on Android 6.0 Marshmallow OS powered by Vivo’s FunTouch OS 3.0 on top.
Gionee A1 is powered by a 2GHz MediaTek Helio P10 octa-core processor paired with 4GB of RAM, 64GB onboard storage, and option to expand the storage up to 256GB via microSD card. It has a 4010mAh battery and runs on the latest Android 7.0 Nougat OS.
Lastly, the Oppo F1s boasts a 64-bit MediaTek MT6750 octa-core processor along with 3GB of RAM, 32GB of internal storage, and up to 128GB of external storage via microSD card. It has a 3075mAh battery and runs on older Android 5.1 Lollipop OS with ColorOS 3.0 on top.
The biggest highlight of these competing smartphones is their camera abilities. All phones feature higher megapixel count on the front-facing cameras. Vivo V5s offers a 20MP selfie snapper with Vivo’s signature Moonlight flash feature. It also has a 13MP primary rear camera with LED flash.
Gionee A1 and Oppo F1s offers a similar set of cameras on them. Both devices have16MP front-facing cameras, but Gionee A1 has a LED flash which is missing in Oppo F1s.
The Vivo V5s is priced at Rs 18,990 and it will be made available for purchase in Matte Black and Crown Gold colour options from May 6. The Gionee A1 is available in Black, Gold, and Grey colour choices for a price of Rs 19,999. Lastly, the Oppo F1s is priced at Rs 17,990 and it comes in Gold, Rose Gold, and Grey colour option.
If all you need is good specifications, amazing design, better battery life, good cameras, and newer Android experience, then Gionee A1 is the better option to go for over the other two smartphones. However, if the higher megapixels on the front-facing camera is important to you then Vivo V5s is the one for you. Do you feel we have missed any good selfie smartphone in sub-Rs 20,000 space?
