Surprised! Well, many upcoming smartphones now may flaunt 8GB of RAM and 40MP camera as MediaTek launched Helio X30 SoC chipset that will support such massive specifications.
MediaTek has recently launched its new flagship Helio deca-core SoC chip along with the PowerVR ZXT GPU for mobile devices.
It is also anticipated that we may witness them in products shipped from the second half of 2017. The Helio X30 is successor of the Helio X20 SoC and is built on a 10nm FinFET design by TSMC that supports quad-core PowerVR 7XT GPU. The X30 chip has a tri-cluster architecture which is the same as of its predecessors, Helio X20 and the Helio X25. It will have the capabilities to support a camera sensor with up to 40 megapixels, and the video capture support up to 24 megapixels which is ideal for photography lovers. And to make it smoother, the phone will support up to 8GB of RAM.
The Helio X30 deca-core chipset will have two Cortex-A73 cores which are reported to be clocked at 2.8GHz, which will smoothen up the most demanding task. Also it will have four Cortex-A53 cores which are possibly to be clocked at 2.2 GHz and rest of the four cores will be economy Cortex-A35 clocked at 2.0 GHz.
MediaTek is entering to quad-core PowerVR 7XT GPU; the graphics processor integrated with latest iPhones and iPads earlier.
The SoC for Helio X30 will support camera sensors of as high as 40 megapixels with 24fps video capture. And X30 will also support cameras with lower megapixel sensors. The 16MP camera on X30 will support up to 60fps video while the 8MP camera will shoot videos at up to 120fps. The SoC on X30 will be compatible with RAM up to 8GB which will be split between two LPDDR4 POP 1600MHz channels.
MediaTek had launched its deca-core Helio-X20 back in 2015, while the Helio-X25 came this year in March. The latest smartphones having Helio X25 chip includes Xiaomi Redmi Pro, Le 2 Pro and Meizu Pro 6.
