Oppo boards the “Make in India” Train. Announces Manufacturing unit by August

Initiated by our Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi, “Make in India” is attracting companies from around the world to set up their manufacturing units in India.

Followed by Apple’s announcement to set up a manufacturing unit in India, Chinese phone maker Oppo announces it’s manufacturing unit in India. Oppo currently has a manufacturing unit in china and has Foxconn as it assembly partner in India, which would continue doing that as quoted by Global VP of Oppo.

India is fastest growing smartphone market and every player is trying to get a piece of it. Oppo has been trying to compete with other players like Micromax mobiles, Motorola mobiles and Xiaomi mobiles and this announcement reflects their strong dedication to beat out the competition.

Unlike its competitors, Oppo hasn’t ventured into any online partnership with leading marketplaces and is still operating through brick and motor model to woo customers. Companies strong believe in its product quality gives them an edge over others and heavy investments are being made in line with the same goal in mind.

With 100 crores investment, this Noida based manufacturing unit would have a capacity of 10 million units. Handset makers like Samsung mobiles, Micromax, Xiaomi, Gionee, Lenovo, and OnePlus have already set up assembly units in the country. This Noida based manufacturing unit is all set to start operations from August 2016 and will make all the models of the smartphone brand but the company is not looking at developing this unit as an export hub as of yet.

Oppo also announced it’s latest association with Yuvraj Singh as the first Sportsperson as a brand ambassador. Yuvraj is one of the most promising cricketers of Indian cricket team in limited over format and with IPL just around the corner this would help Oppo attract the cricket fans towards their new smartphone models. Hrithik Roshan and Sonam Kapoor are already brand ambassador of Oppo and with Yuvraj Singh roped in Oppo hopes to make a difference this cricket season.

Oppo is also focusing on building mid-scale and premium mobile phones ranging from 15000-30000 to complete with its counterpart Samsung, Micromax and others.

Oppo is also investing a lot into ground promotions and public display units to provide a real use and feel of its handsets to customers. This way customers would not only look at the fancy advertisement but would also have the first-hand experience of using the handset before investing.

Let’s hope all these investments and executions help Oppo make its stand firm in the country.
