There have been a lot of speculations regarding the launch of the next OnePlus flagship phone. Lately, at the CES 2018 event, OnePlus CEO Pete Lau confirmed the next flagship phone. Pete said that the new OnePlus 6 smartphone will be announced in the second quarter of 2018.
Similar to OnePlus 5 which launched in June last year, the OnePlus 6 smartphone could unveil sometime in June this year. Though the CEO did not reveal too many details about the phone, he mentioned that the upcoming OnePlus phone will be powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 SoC.
Though little is known about the phone, the upcoming OnePlus mobile is expected to come with an under-display fingerprint sensor. Another report states that the phone could also sport the facial recognition technology similar to the Apple iPhone X.
Additionally, just like the iPhone X, the next OnePlus mobile could feature a 3D camera module that uses infrared light to measure depth. This is the first official announcement by the company regarding their upcoming OnePlus smartphone for 2018 and the news should be taken with a pinch of salt.
Furthermore, Pete Lau also confirmed at the CES 2018 that the OnePlus 3 and OnePlus 3T will soon start receiving the beta version of the Face Unlock feature. 2017 saw the company launch the OnePlus 5 and the OnePlus 5T in several variants that included Star Wars Limited Edition, Sandstone White, Lava Red and Midnight Black.
The recently launched OnePlus Lava Red variant comes with 8GB of RAM with 125GB of internal storage with a price tag of Rs. 37,999. The Lava Red is the third variant to be launched in India preceded by the company’s Star Wars edition and the Sandstone edition.
The OnePlus 5T smartphone sports a 6.1-inch Full optic AMOLED display with an aspect ratio of 18:9. It is powered by octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor and runs on Android 7.1.1 Nougat operating system. The phone features two storage variants- 64GB and 128GB and is the first of the series to come with a Face unlock feature.
