OnePlus is expected to launch its new flagship device called as the OnePlus 5 this year. The company is presumed to skip the number 4 edition of the smartphone as the number 4 is considered unfortunate in Chinese culture. Moreover, the synonymous of the word are related to death or decease. As per the latest rumours, the OnePlus 5 is believed to feature a whopping 8GB of RAM in it. The smartphone is expected to get launched in the second half of this year.
A Chinese publication called PCPop has reported the OnePlus 5 with 8GB of RAM first and it was spotted by TechTimes. Moreover, the report mentioned that the upcoming mobile will have the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 chipset installed on it. The OnePlus 5 smartphone will compete against Samsung’s latest flagship Galaxy S8 smartphone.
Coming to the design of the OnePlus 5, it is said to flaunt thinner bezels with sleek design than its predecessor. The sleek design is rapidly becoming the trend of this year in flagship devices. In addition, the device will offer an improved display and better photography specifications. The handset is rumoured to be priced under $500 (roughly Rs 32,500). The current flagship device, the OnePlus 3T is available for Rs 29,999 right now which means, the upcoming mobile could be slightly expensive.
Apart from this, the other details about the OnePlus 5 smartphone are scarce at the moment. The previous reports have suggested a dual-curved edge display on OnePlus 5 which will resemble with Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge‘s display. On the camera department, the device was rumoured to offer a 23MP primary rear camera and a 16MP front-facing selfie snapper. Along with the 8GB RAM option, the OnePlus 5 is also rumoured to get launched in 6GB RAM and onboard storage variants of 64GB and 128GB. Furthermore, the device will allow storage expansion up to 256GB via microSD card.
OnePlus is also rumoured to abandon the aluminium body design on its upcoming flagship and opt for a ceramic body instead. Currently, Xiaomi Mi Mix smartphone features a ceramic body design. Coming to the battery specifications, the device is likely to pack a 4000mAh battery with support for Dash Charge technology. The OnePlus 5 is believed to have a support for features like wireless charging tech alongside a USB Type-C connectivity. Lastly, OnePlus 5 will run on Android 7.0 Nougat OS out-of-the-box powered by the OxygenOS on top.
